We heard about this place a couple of years ago and had made more excited when we saw it on Google Earth, sure we will visit it one day.
“It is one of the largest aviation Museums in the world, and the largest non-government funded aviation Museum in the United States. You’ll see more than 300 aircraft and spacecraft including many of the most historically significant and technically advanced craft ever produced, both from the United States and throughout the world.”
Entering and exiting the museum is through the gift shop, which is where you’ll pay the museum admission fee plus any add-on such as the onsite Tram Tour and/or the Boneyard Tour.
Pima Air and Space Museum is a one of a kind museum. They have numerous assortments of historical planes and aerospace items to see inside their multiple air-conditioned hangers and outside are tons of different aircraft that we’re developed and used over the past half century including aircraft that we’re used by former Presidents. The Airforce One of Presidents Kennedy and Johnson is on display outdoors.

The US Air Force’s 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG), known as “The Boneyard”. We took the AMARG tour which is a tour of the military boneyard.
The boneyard is where aircraft are sent to either be stored for potential future use or used as a parts plane for other aircraft still in use. The tour is given on a very comfortable, and air conditioned, coach bus. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to get off the bus and explore but you are still able to see quite a bit and take pictures.

There is a cafe and restaurant on the premises called the “Flight Grill” at a reasonable price for a museum.
Parking lot is in a wide-open space with few pants and trees, but will not provide shade to your car from the desert sun. There are few spaces for handicapped near the entrance.
The Pima Air & Space Museum is located at 6000 E. Valencia Road, Tucson, Exit 267 off Interstate 10. The museum is open daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with last admission at 4 p.m. For general museum information, please call 520-574-0462 or visit www.pimaair.org
Wow, I wish to traipse my two little itchy feet to that huge museum 😀
